The official founding date of the Nederlandsch-Amerikaansche
Stoomvaart Maatschappij (NASM) in Rotterdam in 1873. (The company
was formed as a result of the reorganization of an earlier company,
Plate, Reuchlin & Co., which had encountered financial
difficulties.)
